A FOOTBALL club has paid tribute to a young player following his sudden death.
Nathan Carter, 18, sadly passed away in the early hours of the morning of Sunday, January 21 after a "tragic incident".
A fundraiser for Kirkwood Hospice in memory of Nathan has raised over £500 so far.
The teenager was a star player for Liversedge FC's under-18s.
Nathan's manager Nev Harris said he will be "sorely missed" and that his "spirit lives on with us all".
Mr Harris said: "Nathan Carter spent many years playing across the teams I have coached; he was hugely respected and will be sorely missed by his teammates, his coaches and all of the parents.
"Our team will never be the same without him and his sweet left foot.
"The team will look to finish the season with a league and cup double in honour of Nathan.
"I have seen him grow as a player and person, and it's been a joy.
"There are no words to describe how Nathan's parents must be feeling, but as a club and team, I will support Nathan's family as much as we can; Nathan might not be here, but his spirit lives on with us all.
"Fly high number 11."
Nathan's teammates paid tribute to him in the first match since his passing.
The group of players sported t-shirts with the young man's picture on them alongside "Rest In Peace".
The club added: "Through the spirit of Nathan, they came back from 2-0 down, made it 4-4 and took the game to penalties."
On Facebook, his father Phil Carter said: "Just to keep you up to date and for those of you who would like to attend.
"Nathan’s funeral will take place at Huddersfield Crematorium on Friday, February 9 at 10am.
"Following the service, we will be heading down to Bradley Park Golf Club. Again if anyone wants to attend you are welcome.
"In memory of Nathan, we will be raising money for Kirkwood Hospice.
"There is a tribute to Nathan set up where you can send contributions if you like.
"On the same page, you can add messages and add any suitable photos that you have of him. I would encourage his friends to do this.
"Thanks again for the support that’s been offered in this very difficult time x"
