ONE City Park’s anchor tenant PricewaterhouseCoopers is a brand known around the world, and is considered one of the big four accounting firms.
It has bases in 157 countries, across 742 locations, and employs 328,000 people.
Although it was officially set up in 1998, the organisations that merged to form the company date back to the 1800s.
Among the services the company offers are data analysis and business advisory services.
The company is known for its young workforce – almost a third of its staff in Bradford are under the age of 20.
The company opened an office on Godwin Street in Bradford in May 2019, with around 60 people based there at the time.
It came shortly after the company announced office closures in cities including Hull.
Having an internationally recognised name based in Bradford city centre was seen as a huge boost for the city at the time.
The company has since expanded its local workforce, which currently stands at 181 staff who are based in Godwin Street.
When the office opened the company told the Telegraph & Argus that the aim was for most of its employees to be Bradford residents.
The T&A spoke to bosses of the Bradford branch in 2021 – during the Covid pandemic, and they said PwC was committed to retaining office based work, despite suggestions office culture could switch to working from home.
They also said the company aimed to work with local schools and colleges to give young people an option to stay in Bradford, rather than being forced to head to other cities to find work.
In 2021 Andy Ward, audit and transactions partner, said: “Having a business like this here creates aspiration for young people. It is a skilled job they can get that means they can stay local if they want to.
"It is about giving them a choice to stay local rather than none. They may decide to move to a job in Manchester or Leeds, but they're not going because there isn't a job here."
