LATEST NEWS: Plane tried to land at LBA four times before sent to Scotland
THERE are huge delays and cancellations at Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) as Storm Isha has hit the hard overnight and into this morning.
The airport, which is based in Yeadon, has announced on its website that a number of flights have either been severely delayed or cancelled entirely.
One service last night even had to be diverted to Scotland after circling Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) four times.
A Ryanair flight from Krakow, in Poland was scheduled to come into LBA at 9.50pm on Sunday but the airport's arrival board online said this was expected at 7.31am today instead, before updating details to say it has been diverted to East Midlands Airport.
But Flightradar24 is showing that the service has been cancelled.
Those looking to head out of the country from LBA are also experiencing severe delays.
The first flight of the day from the airport - the 6am Ryanair service to Malaga - is now expected to set off more than seven hours after its scheduled time, at 1.05pm.
Meanwhile, the flight to Riga, in Latvia - run by Ryanair - was expected to take off from LBA at 9am, instead of its original time of 6am, but is now showing as "delayed".
The airline's plane to Krakow will not be leaving the airport, despite being scheduled to set off at 6.05am.
Two arrival services run by Aer Lingus - the 8.50am to Belfast and the 8.55am to Dublin - have been cancelled.
A number of flights were either cancelled or delayed throughout yesterday too.
A spokesperson at LBA said just after 10am today: “We currently remain open but are experiencing some delays and disruptions to flights due to adverse weather.
"We recommend passengers check with their airlines and on our website for live updates.”
