Emergency services are dealing with an incident along the railway - with some passengers told to disembark from their train in Bradford.
Disruption is expected on Wednesday afternoon with many services in Bradford and Leeds likely to be affected.
Emergency services are dealing with an incident between Leeds and Selby/York.
A person was struck by a train between Leeds and York, Network Rail confirmed.
Paramedics attended the scene but the person was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
There were delays and cancellations as emergency services worked to reopen the line.
The line has now been reopened safely and services running through these stations are returning to normal.
Some services may still be cancelled or delayed following the earlier incident.
British Transport Police statement
British Transport Police (BTP) said officers were called to the railway line between Leeds and York/Selby just after 12pm on Wednesday (January 17).
The incident is not being treated as suspicious.
A spokesperson for BTP said: "Paramedics also attended however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."

National Rail previously warned trains running between these stations may face delays up to 30 minutes or cancelled.
Northern's 11.15am service from Hull to Halifax was cancelled at around 12.30pm.
The service terminated at Bradford Interchange.
One train user said: "I've just been kicked off my train at Bradford Interchange due to this."
Statement from Network Rail
In an earlier statement, a Network Rail spokesperson said: “Due to a person being struck by a train between Leeds and York, services are currently being disrupted.
“Network Rail teams are working alongside emergency services and will reopen the line, safely, as soon as possible. Passengers are encouraged to check their journey before travelling via National Rail Enquiries or their train operator as delays and short notice cancellations are expected.”
