A DISPERSAL order has been put in place throughout Bradford city centre following reports of anti-social behaviour outside bars.

West Yorkshire Police said the powers will be used to make sure punters experiencing the city’s night time economy feel safe.

The dispersal order will last from 7pm today (Friday, January 12) until 7am on Saturday, January 13.

It comes after police dealt with reports of groups hanging around the outside of bars on Ivegate and Westgate.

The revellers have been “making a nuisance of themselves”, a spokesperson for Bradford City NPT said.

Officers have asked licensees along Kirkgate and Westgate to make sure their door staff are aware.

In a statement posted to X, a police spokesperson said: “The expectations are that our officers will use this power proportionally to ensure that customers of the Evening Night Time Economy feel safe and potential offender behaviour is disrupted.

“Reports of ASB in recent weeks by groups hanging around the outside of bars on Ivegate/Westgate making a nuisance of themselves. Inspector of Bradford City NPT has granted a dispersal order under my ASB powers.

“This means if we suspect someone is causing problems we can require them to go home.

“I will be asking licensees on Kirkgate/Westgate tonight to make sure their door staff are aware. “If anyone is causing them a problem I would ask security to highlight them to my officers.”
