A BRADFORD driver has been handed five points on his licence for damaging a lamppost.
Scot Carthy, 42, of Oakworth, in Keighley pleaded guilty to being the driver of a vehicle involved in a road accident and failing to report that accident, at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates' Court on December 28.
The 42-year-old was driving a black Land Rover Discovery on Station Road, in Oakworth on July 15 last year when he was involved in a crash with a lamppost on the pavement.
The street furniture was damaged in the collision but Carthy failed to report the crash "as soon as was reasonably practicable, and in any case within twenty-four hours", according to court records.
Carthy was ordered to pay £932 in total.
This included a £587 fine, a surcharge of £235 to fund victim services, and £110 in costs.
His driving record was also endorsed with five penalty points.
