A MAN has been arrested in the Spen Valley on suspicion of domestic kidnap.
The arrest, in Heckmondwike, was made by volunteer Special Constables in Kirklees as part of a crackdown targeting on-the-run suspects of violence against women.
Officers also visited multiple properties to disrupt known offenders and gain intelligence to help better pinpoint the locations of those still wanted.
The operation took place over the New Year weekend.
It was the last in a series of initiatives launched or maintained through 2023 to help make women and girls safer in the Kirklees area.
Chief Inspector Chantel Patrick, of West Yorkshire Police, said: "Special Constables play an integral role in policing in Kirklees and I want to thank our hard-working volunteer officers for their excellent efforts in co-ordinating and executing this wide ranging-operation."
Chief Inspector Rebecca Calpin, also from the force, added: "Our significant programme of work to reduce violence against women is continuing into 2024 with many more operations and initiatives planned.
"Women are becoming safer in Kirklees and we continue to strive to raise awareness of violence against females, provide protection for those at risk, and take positive action against suspects."
