A MAN from Newcastle has been sentenced following an assault at a garage in the Bradford district.
Michael Philip, 38, of Clara Street, in Newcastle was sentenced at Leeds Magistrates' Court on Tuesday for assault by beating.
He originally pleaded not guilty to the offence at an earlier hearing but changed his plea to guilty on the same day as he was sentenced.
Philip admitted to beating up a man at Sandy Lane Garage, in Wilsden Road, Sandy Lane, on June 26 last year.
He was handed a community order by the court.
The 38-year-old must complete 40 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months.
He was also ordered to pay £314 in total.
This included £200 in costs and a surcharge of £114 to fund victim services.
