THE redevelopment of a derelict city centre warehouse will now include a roof terrace after amended plans for the scheme were approved.
Earlier this year, an application to convert Galem House – a seven-storey warehouse off Sunbridge Road - into 77 apartments was approved by Bradford Council.
Work on the project, which will include a two-storey roof extension, is now well underway.
Applicants Coverstone Investments Ltd and Trident House Developments Ltd recently applied to alter the approved plans to create an outdoor space for future residents on the new roof of the building.
The application said: “The creation of the proposed roof terrace will also assist in enhancing the greening of the urban landscape, which offers significant environmental and ecological benefits, as well as enhancing the onsite biodiversity.”
Galem House lies within the Goitside Conservation Area.
The amended plans were approved last month, with planning officers saying: “The proposed roof terrace would not have an adverse impact on either the host building or the Goitside Conservation Area.
“There would be limited public views of the upper level and the addition of a terrace to the building would provide the future residents with amenity space.”
The building is expected to be completed in 2025.
