A BRADFORD man says his life will never be the same again after he was 'run over' by a driver following a pro-Palestine demonstration.
Abid Beecroft told the Telegraph & Argus he suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon in the incident, which is being investigated by police.
He added that he may not be able to walk for up to 18 months and his life was now "fully on hold" as a result of the "horrifying experience".
'I can't live my life now'
Mr Beecroft said he attended a pro-Palestinian demonstration in Bradford earlier this month and, after it finished, he went to wave his flag on Duckworth Lane "to get more eyes on it".
He said a man then drove past and shouted a comment, which the Telegraph & Argus has chosen not to publish.
"I wanted to know the reason why he had said this so I walked over and before I could even say a word he looked at me, looked at his wheel and just ran over me," Mr Beecroft said.
"I went over onto the bonnet and then the ground with pain in my foot.
"I had asked members of the public to get the person's registration number, but they were all walking away from me leaving me in the road for around five minutes until another member of the public helped me up on to the path and then called the ambulance.
"Now I have a ruptured Achilles tendon and will not be able to walk for at least four months best case - 18 months if surgery is needed."
He added: "It was a horrifying experience.
"I will be affected for the rest of my life both physically and mentally.
"I can't live my life now - it's fully on hold until I can actively walk again."
