THE fire service has issued a statement after a car crashed into gas mains on a major Bradford road.
It happened on Thornton Road, just after 10am today.
Members of the public were evacuated and a large police cordon has been set up while emergency services work at the scene.
No one was trapped in the vehicle and West Yorkshire Police said it was a damage only crash.
We were called at 10.12. Two crews from Bradford, one from Stanningley, and one from Odsal are in attendance.

Gas engineers are working to cap the supply off.
A spokesperson from West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called at 10.12am to reports of a road traffic collision on Thornton Road in Bradford.
"We sent two crews from Bradford, one from Stanningley and one from Odsal.
"This was found to be a vehicle which has crashed into a gas mains.
"Upon arrival crews along with partners set up a cordon and evacuated the public.
"No-one is trapped in the vehicle and gas engineers are working to cap the supply off."
