A “high-profile occupier” has been secured for Bradford’s One City Park, it has been revealed.
The £35m Grade A office development on the edge of City Park - delivered by Muse in partnership with Bradford Council - was recently completed.
Now, it has been confirmed that contracts have been exchanged with a corporate anchor tenant.
The building’s first tenant is due to be named in the coming weeks.
Spanning 56,403 sq. ft and made out of striking steel and glass, the building spans across five floors with space for 450 workers.
The vision was brought into reality by main contractor Caddick Construction and received additional funding from West Yorkshire Combined Authority.
Other key project partners included Sheppard Robson Architects; Arup; G&H Building Services; Howard Civil Engineering and re-form Landscape Architecture.
Simon Dew, development director at Muse, said: “One City Park will be a catalyst for further investment in the city and signifies a newfound confidence in its commercial centre that will attract future big-name businesses.
“The project also demonstrates a very successful public/private partnership that will reap long-term benefits by providing incredible job opportunities for the younger, growing, population in the city.”
Eamon Fox, partner and head of office agency at Knight Frank in Leeds said: “Securing a high-profile occupier for the building – which we look forward to announcing very soon – shows that the office is very much part of our future working lives. Our own research suggests that workplaces designed and delivered must be dynamic and able to reflect emerging workstyles and a renewed purpose for the office.”
The project is the first in a string of huge developments changing the face of the city.
The £23m Darley Street market scheme is currently scheduled to open next year with a range of tenants and a diverse offering.
Meanwhile, work is well underway on NEC Bradford Live’s multi-million-pound transformation of the former Odeon cinema.
Meanwhile a £43.5 million scheme to transform the city centre will see the creation of a new entrance to the city at Bradford Interchange, pedestrianised streets, and new bus routes.
Cllr Alex Ross-Shaw, Bradford Council’s executive member of regeneration, planning and transport, said: “We already have a talented and ambitious workforce and we’re now providing the highest spec’ office space for businesses who are serious about making their mark in the North. This is an exciting time for Bradford and the completion of One City Park is just the beginning of the commercial transformation that is taking place here.”
One City Park has five floors of workspace and a roof terrace, flexible floor plans, and spaces designed for a range of different businesses.
The building has now been formally handed over to Bradford Council as the owners.
The surrounding cultural assets - such as the Grade I Listed City Hall, St George’s Hall - are all expected to play a major role in Bradford’s UK City of Culture celebrations in 2025.
Paul Dodsworth, Managing Director at Caddick Construction Group, added: “As Bradford’s first office development in 20 years, One City Park sets a new standard for the city, becoming a thriving Grade A office destination for local businesses.
“We’re very proud to have delivered this fantastic scheme on behalf of Muse alongside our partners at CCL Facades, who have done an exceptional job delivering the external facade of this striking building.”
