A TEENAGER is fighting for his life following a crash last night where a car collided with a wall outside a country pub.
Police are appealing for information following the serious injury collision near the village of Upperthong, in Kirklees.
The horror unfolded at about 8.26pm yesterday (Tuesday) when a black Toyota Yaris travelling along the A635 Greenfield Road towards Holmfirth, struck the edge of the Ford Inn pub and collided with a wall and a tree nearby.
The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, a 17-year-old male, was taken to hospital with serious injuries, which are said to be life-threatening.
The incident happened on a section of road where the so-called 'Isle of Skye' road is descending from the moors towards Holmfirth. At a crossroads where Holmfirth-bound traffic can turn left towards Meltham along Thick Hollins Road or right towards Holme village along Greengate Road, the road curves to the rightand the now-closed Ford Inn located on the left.
When the Telegraph & Argus visited the scene today, a wall outside the pub had been damaged and bricks were scattered across part of the outside seating area.
A tree further down the road also had a chunk of bark missing and a nearby pole had been uprooted.
Anyone who witnessed the collision, or who has footage that may assist is asked to contact the Roads Policing Unit on 101 or by using the livechat facility on the West Yorkshire Police website.
The log reference number is 1664 of December 5.
