A DEMONSTRATION took place in Bradford this evening to call for a “permanent ceasefire” amid the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict.
It was held in Centenary Square and organised by Bradford and District Council for Mosques and the Race Equality Network.
A flyer described it as a “peaceful demonstration” and added: “This is a call to all communities, people of faith and no faith in Bradford and West Yorkshire to come peacefully together to demand an immediate permanent ceasefire in Gaza (Palestine)."
It came as Israel and Hamas agreed at the last minute on Thursday to extend their ceasefire in Gaza by another day.
On Friday, a candlelight vigil will be held in Mandela Gardens, in Leeds, to mourn healthcare workers killed in Gaza and call for a ceasefire.
A minute’s silence will be held, along with speeches by doctors and nurses from West Yorkshire.
