A BRADFORD man who attacked a woman twice, punching her in the face, has avoided an immediate jail sentence.
Ryan Kenny, 44, of Haigh Street, Bradford, appeared before Bradford Crown Court to be sentenced for two charges, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and assault by beating.
The court heard how the two separate incidents had taken place and the victim was the same in both instances.
The first of the attacks saw Kenny drag the woman by the hair and she jumped out of a window to escape him – injuring herself in the process.
The second attack involved Kenny punching her in the face multiple times, leaving her with a bust lip and bruising to the face.
Kenny was said to have difficulties with his physical and mental health.
Recorder Catherine Silverton sentenced Kenny to 19 months imprisonment, suspended for two years.
He must also complete a 33-day programme around building better relationships, and up to 20 rehabilitation activity requirement days.
She said: It’s very important that you understand this is not a soft option. This is a prison sentence – a 19-month prison sentence that will hang over you for two years.”
