A PROLIFIC beggar has been handed a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) by police.
Steven Lofthouse has been issued with the CBO to prevent him from begging in the Bradford district until November 2028. And the order specifically bans him from begging in Shipley.
The five-year order, which was given out at Leeds Magistrates Court, states he must not ask another person for money or goods (including cigarettes or alcohol) in the area, except as part of a contract of employment or legitimate benefit claim or retail purchase or banking transaction.
The order also states he must not sit, sleep or loiter in an areas accessible to members of the public with an any item or article which would give the impression of begging (such as a cup, hat, quilt or sign) in the Bradford district.
The order expires on November 1, 2028.
If Steven Lofthouse breaks the terms of the Criminal Behaviour Order, he risks arrest and may be fined or sent to prison.
Anyone who witnesses Lofthouse breaking the terms of the order should contact West Yorkshire Police on 101.
