ONE of Shipley’s most prominent buildings will go under the hammer next month.
The former Barclays building, on the corner of Otley Road and Kirkgate, shut in 2021 after the banking giant claimed around 86 per cent of the branch’s customers used "different ways to bank” rather than visiting the branch physically.
The grand banking hall has stood empty ever since.
On December 5 the unit will go to auction by Pugh Auction House, with a guide price of £250,000.
The building has a banking hall on the ground floor, office space on the first floor, and basement space.
The listing describes the former bank as a "prominent and imposing former bank premises, situated attractively on a corner position and believed to hold redevelopment potential".
It adds: “The property would suit a variety of uses and may be suitable for redevelopment, subject to the necessary consents.”
