A PLOT of Council-owned land in Birkenshaw has sold at auction for £935,000.
The two-acre plot of land a Croft Street in the village first went under the hammer in October.
It was later included in the November auction at the same guide price of £850,000, where it sold.
Planning permission for 34 homes was previously approved for the land, but that has since expired.
The land, which is to the south of Birkenshaw Liberal Club, has a housing allocation of 28 units in the Local Plan.
An online petition has been set up recently aiming to halt any housing development on the site.
