An investigation has been launched into a fire in Pudsey Park.
West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service received reports of a small fire in the playground at 7.50pm on Wednesday, November 22.
A fire crew from Stanningley station attended the scene within three minutes.
The park’s popular play tractor with a slide was found to be on fire.
The blaze was put out by 8.02pm, the fire service confirmed.
Councillor Simon Seary (Conservative, Pudsey) said the play park has only recently been refurbished.
Some of the newer play equipment includes swings, a roundabout and climbing tower.
He described the incident as “upsetting” and urged anyone with information to come forwards.
The councillor said: “Pudsey Play Park has only recently [been] refurbished, reopening earlier this year and it’s very upsetting to see that someone would set fire to children’s play equipment.
“I would encourage residents to report all anti-social behaviour issues directly to the police, it’s too early to understand how it was started and a case has been opened and it will be investigated, we do have good coverage from CCTV in the town centre and if anyone does have any information, please approach the police.”
