SHIPLEY will celebrate the countdown to Christmas when the town’s festive lights are switched on this weekend.
There will be a day of free entertainment and activities for visitors and residents will take place on Saturday, November 25, from 10am, with the town's festive lights and large Christmas tree being switched on at 4.45pm.
Funded by Shipley Town Council, there will be performers taking to the stage in the market square, along with a stage show - The Nutcracker and the Magic Spark - performed by Shipley-based Q20 Events.
Father Christmas and craft activities will be available in the Underground Market, and face painting, balloon modelling and a Nativity puppet show will take place in Shipley Library.
The outdoor market will also include a range of additional stalls including crafts, and artisan foods.
There will also be two light installations around the town centre as part of the ‘BD is LIT’ festival.
Councillor Mike Farren, the chair of Shipley Town Council’s community engagement committee said: “The Christmas lights switch-on is a real highlight for the community, attracting many visitors into Shipley.
"With lots of free activities for the family to enjoy, and entertainment throughout the town centre, we look forward to a great day celebrating the countdown to Christmas.”
