Emergency services have taken a woman into their care following an earlier incident on the M62.
Police urged drivers to avoid part of the M62 due to an ongoing incident just before 11am on Wednesday (November 22).
The incident took place on a road above the M62 between Junction 28 and Junction 27.
Both carriageways were closed.
Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) also attended the scene.
In a statement, a spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "Police were called to the M62 Eastbound near junction 27 at 10.41am after a woman was seen in distress on a bridge over the motorway.
"A full closure was put in place over both carriages of the motorway between junctions 27 and 28 until the woman was brought down safely by officers."
The person involved in the incident is now in the care of police and YAS.
All closures are expected to be removed shortly.
In a social media post at 11am on Wednesday, a police spokesperson said: "Due to an ongoing incident on a road above the #M62 between #J28 and #J27 both carriageways are currently closed. Emergency services are currently on scene and an update will be provided shortly. Please avoid the area."
