A BRADFORD community champion’s confidence has been boosted after receiving an MBE.

Shadim Hussain is the CEO of My Family Group CIC, which helps recruit carers in Bradford and across England.

He was handed an MBE for services to equality and the foster care system in the New Year's Honours List.

This has been a comeback for Mr Hussain after a stroke last year which has had an immense impact on his health.

Mr Hussain highlighted that his road to recovery has been "challenging" but it serves as a "powerful reminder of resilience and determination".

He said: “My road to recovery has been really tough and challenging; however, receiving this MBE has boosted my confidence.

“It serves as a powerful reminder of resilience and determination. I am still committed to touching and impacting more lives, aspiring to make an even greater positive impact in the journey ahead."

In a post on X formerly known as Twitter, Mr Hussain, said: “I would like to share some news that I have been granted an #MBE by King Charles.

“I would like to say, I accepted the honour on your behalf as it was for services to children in care and there is not a single activity that I did except that it was with your support🙏🏽❤️🎖️”
