Bradford has been named as one of the cheapest places to live alone in the UK, according to new research.
In fact, it’s the second cheapest city, closely following Hull where it’s estimated a combined monthly total of rent, utilities and bills amounts to £1,068.
Living alone comes with many positives such as having your own space with no one else’s clutter around and being able to make all the mess you want in the kitchen without anyone moaning.
But one of the biggest negatives to living independently is the rising costs of food, gas and electricity – the list goes on.
How you can reduce your energy bills
Yet the amount of Brits living alone is expected to rise to 10 million by the end of 2039, with 8.3 million people currently occupying properties as single owners and tenants.
That’s why chartered surveyors Stokemont have analysed the rent and utility expenses of the UK’s 20 biggest cities to find some of the cheapest places to live on your own, as reported by The Metro.
Why is Bradford one of the cheapest cities to live in the UK?
If a person were to live alone in the West Yorkshire city, it’s estimated that the average monthly total they could expect to pay for rent, utilities and bills would be £1,136, according to Stokemont.
It’s thought the cost of rent per month is around £538, whilst utility costs amount to £598.
The average asking price of a home drops to £362,143 (-1.7%) this month, as Christmas approaches and sellers continue to adopt more pricing realism to attract a buyer.
