A BRADFORD man who was arrested at a Just Stop Oil protest had his case dismissed by the courts.
Ludi Simpson, 70, joined Just Stop Oil protesters at a march on October 27, 2022, and was subsequently arrested and charged with wilful obstruction of a highway.
He appeared before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on November 7 and the case was dismissed.
Simpson said: “I’m extremely happy that the concerns were recognised as having importance enough to have a protest.
“Our aims don’t disrupt but they publicise our concerns.”
The day before appearing in court, he was arrested at a slow march on London’s Whitehall.
Then, on November 8, he was arrested following a slow march on Waterloo Bridge in the capital and charged with interfering with the use/operation of key national infrastructure.
That case has been sent to Southwark Crown Court and Simpson will appear there for a hearing on December 11.
Simpson said “Politics isn’t working. Government has given more licenses to develop massive oil reserves, when we know that this is the cause of global warming that has already killed thousands in fires and floods, and without action will kill many millions.”
