WE HAVE had some windy weather this week as yet another autumn storm hit the UK.
This time it was storm Debi, whipping up winds of up to 65mph in western areas, and even higher on the Atlantic coast.
The winds were strong across Yorkshire, with trees bending this way and that, losing what was left of their leaves. Anyone who put their washing out in Bradford would have risked it ending up in Leeds.
This photograph from the Telegraph & Argus archives shows a windy day in Otley, with leaves and litter being blown around by the gusts.
The picture is undated, but from the number of Morris Minors on Kirkgate it is likely to be the 1950s or early 1960s. Shops on the street include long-established Greenwoods and Neal Brothers.
