A BRADFORD man who died when his vehicle struck a wall was due in court later the same day to be sentenced for child sex offences, the Telegraph & Argus can reveal.

Matthew Lee Harrison, 33, died at the scene after his Nissan Navara smashed into a stone wall at the junction of Dryden Street and Buck Street on the morning of Tuesday, October 31.

That afternoon, he was due up for sentence at Bradford Crown Court for two counts of rape of a child, sexual assault of a child, rape, and assault of a child by penetration.

Harrison was listed as living in Swain House when the case first came to court in 2022.

The case was mentioned in court on October 31 and has since been relisted to take place on Tuesday, November 28.

Bradford Telegraph and Argus: Harrison died of multiple injuries following the collision at 7.09am heard an inquest held at Bradford Coroners Court, based in Little Germany, earlier today (Monday, November 13).

At the 10-minute inquest opening, Senior Bradford Coroner Martin Fleming gave details of Harrison's date of birth and when he died.

Harrison, who was driving a Nissan Navara, was declared dead at the scene following an attempt to administer CPR.

The inquest heard how Harrison was single and unemployed at the time.

He was identified by a picture on the police system, the court was told.

Coroner Fleming then adjourned Harrison's inquest until March 5, 2024.

Buck Street, off Leeds Road on the outskirts of Bradford city centre, was cordoned off for most of the day after the crash while police conducted their enquiries.

One woman said: "I saw the car this morning. The whole front of the car was smashed in."

At the time, a West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "Enquiries are ongoing after a fatal road traffic collision in Bradford this morning.

"Police were called at 7.10am to reports a white Nissan Navara had been in collision with a wall on Dryden Street in junction with Buck Street, Bradford.

"The driver, a 33-year-old, man died at the scene.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of the collision.

"Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to call police on 101 quoting log 190 of 31/10."
