FANS of the BBC’s Antiques Road Trip and Bargain Hunt are in for a treat as resident antiques expert David Harper will be joining local retirees in Burley-in-Wharfedale to celebrate the grand opening of McCarthy Stone’s new retirement living development.
On Thursday, November 23, between 1pm and 4pm, the much-loved TV personality will perform a ceremonial ribbon-cutting at Summer Manor to mark the development ‘officially open’ and to kick-start celebrations for the new community there.
Summer Manor is located at the former Generous Pioneer pub in Burley-in-Wharfedale.
Attendees will also hear from David about his extensive career in front of and behind the camera, as one of TV’s most prominent antique experts, before being invited to ask him any questions about their personal collections.
Louise Flynn, divisional marketing manager at McCarthy Stone, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to be able to welcome David Harper to officially open our fabulous new development in Burley-in-Wharfedale.
“We expect that he’ll be a real draw for those living locally to find out more about our latest retirement community in the area, while also having the chance to quiz him about their treasured items.”
Summer Manor consists of 42 one and two-bedroom apartments designed to enable the over 60s to enjoy independence during retirement.
