It was the end of an era in November 1973 when Bradford's old Kirkgate Market was demolished.

The Victorian market, built in 1872, was much loved by Bradford shoppers. Whether you were after a school skirt, a set of mugs or a needle and thread, you could find it among the bustling array of stalls.

The old market was replaced by a shopping mall, the Kirkgate Shopping Centre, now due to be demolished - ending another retail era in the city.

We hope you enjoy these lovely photos of the old Kirkgate Market.
