A FEMALE walker was stretchered to safety by fell rescue volunteers after she tumbled 20 metres down a bank at Troller's Gill, near Skyreholme, north of Skipton, on Sunday.
A team from the Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association carried the walker on a stretcher for just over half a mile (1km) over uneven and challenging terrain to a waiting ambulance.
A spokesperson for the Grassington-based UWFRA said: "The team was called by Yorkshire Ambulance Service to assist in locating a walker somewhere in Troller's Gill with potential unknown injuries.
"Team members located the injured casualty who had taken a tumbling 20 metre fall down a grassy bank and sustained a suspected dislocated shoulder. The casualty was assessed and treated before being placed in a stretcher and carried for one kilometre over uneven and challenging terrain to the waiting YAS ambulance for onwards travel to hospital.
"We wish the casualty a speedy recovery."
