LATEST figures show the number of crimes reported across Bradford in a month has fallen again.

A total of 6,587 crimes were reported to police in the district in August according to the figures published by the data.police.uk website.

This compares with 6,767 crimes in July, 7,187 in June and 7,668 in May – meaning the number has fallen for the third month in a row.

The lowest month so far this year was January with 6,375 – so the latest figure is still 3.3 per cent higher than that.

The most common reported crime continues to be violence and sexual offences, where there were 2,744 in August, along with  673 incidents of anti-social behaviour and 667 public order offences.

In addition, there were 538 reports of criminal damage and arson, and 430 reports classified as “other theft”. This includes theft by an employee, blackmail and making off without payment.

There were also 355 incidents of shoplifting, 327 burglaries and 313 vehicle crimes.

In total there were 179 classed as “other crimes”, which includes forgery, perjury and other miscellaneous crime, as well as 171 drugs offences.

There were also 57 reports of theft from the person, 53 possession of a weapon incidents, 49 robberies, and 31 bicycle thefts.

In 2022 there were just over 82,800 recorded crimes across Bradford. This can be broken down as follows:
