MORE than 100 people attended the opening of a new cake shop in Bradford offering fresh treats.
Bethany Mallinson opened Beth’s Bakes last weekend on Wibsey Bank and has been taken back by its initial success.
The 28-year-old has been baking ever since she was a little girl alongside her nana and after juggling her passion around her full-time job, she’s now pursuing her dream.
She said: “It’s been a bit hectic but I’m finding my feet.
“I wasn’t expecting the amount of people who actually showed up on opening day, I didn’t think anyone would.
“I’m really pleased with all the new customers, and I’ve had some really positive feedback.”
Beth got the keys to the premises earlier this year and has worked hard - with lots of help from her family - to turn it around.
“I was panicking and stressed, so much needed doing to the place and I kept thinking it’s not going to be ready in time for the opening," she told the Telegraph & Argus.
“I kept saying it to my family who were telling me not to worry, it’ll get sorted.
“If it wasn’t for my grandad who worked all hours of the day, it wouldn’t have been ready.”
Beth, who is currently working solo in the shop and making all the products, has been working hard to get the baking done.
Mouth-watering treats include Snickers brownies, Mint Aero brownies, a Galaxy Caramel brookie, a Biscoff cookie slab and more.
The store will be open on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday each week.
“The back end of the week gets really busy as I try to get all the baking done," she said.
“Things like rocky road I know will last a couple of days so I can make them earlier.”
Having the shop has provided Beth with the opportunity for a work-life balance, that she hasn’t had in a long time.
“It’s really good, work is work and home is home now, which wasn’t the case before," she said.
“I was doing everything at home and baking in the middle of the night, so I’m glad I’ve got this space and it’s so much bigger than I’m used to.”
On the opening day, the first 20 customers received a free item from the counter alongside their purchase.
“My family is so proud of me and they can’t believe that I have the shop now," she said.
“I just want to say a huge thank you to my customers who have supported me, without them there wouldn’t be a business.”
