POLICE have recorded a house fire started by a firework being put through a letterbox as arson.
The incident took place at a property on Blackshaw Drive in Buttershaw just before 11pm last night (Wednesday, October 25).
Police officers attended the scene, following a call from the West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, and found "substantial damage" to the house.
No one was present inside the property at the time of the fire.
Enquiries into the incident remain ongoing.
A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "At 10.57pm last night (Wednesday, October 25), police were called by the West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service to reports of a fire at a property on Blackshaw Drive, Bradford.
"Officers attended and found substantial damage to the property.
"No one was present in the property at the time of the fire which was believed to have been started by a firework through the letterbox.
"Detectives from Bradford District CID are continuing to investigate the incident to establish the circumstances.
"The incident has been recorded as arson.
