YOUNG people from different backgrounds and parts of Bradford were brought together in a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Army officers at Catterick Garrison put their newest recruits through a series of team-building challenges.
A coach provided by the army offered a unique opportunity to more than 50 youngsters living across the district.
They faced an army assault course, paintballing challenges, search and command training, and even tied down a truck with harnesses.
The army also opened their eyes to the different careers and apprenticeship opportunities on offer.
Sharat Hussain, the youth worker and founder of Mary Magdalene CiC, spoke about the event’s lasting impact on young people’s lives.
“The kids really enjoyed it,” he said.
“This was the first time they ever visited the campsite. They will long remember that experience.
“It’s something they should be really proud of.
“It’s not just going to the army camp, but people from all different backgrounds that come together from different areas. It shows people are united. It was also about making new friends. We mixed them all up so all the five different groups they were all split up, making friends and taking part in the activities and coming out of their comfort zones.”
