A CHARGING zone made up of eight electric car charging points could be built on one of the main routes into Bradford.
The Motor Fuel Group has submitted a planning application to build an EV charging hub next to the Cross Lane Service station on Westgate Hill Street, which leads onto Tong Street.
If approved, charging bays would be installed at the side of the site closest to the roundabout.
The development would require the felling of three trees that are next to the filling station.
Bradford Council’s Clean Air Team has backed the plans, saying: “As the facility will support the use of EV vehicles in and around Bradford it is fully compatible with the aims and objectives of the Bradford Clean Air Plan, the Bradford Low Emission Strategy and the wider West Yorkshire Low Emission Strategy.
“It will also support the council's wider carbon reduction programmes.”
A decision on the application is expected in December.
