THE number of crimes reported across Bradford in July has fallen for the second month in a row.

A total of 6,767 crimes were reported to police in the district in July according to the figures published by the data.police.uk website.

This compares with 7,187 reports in June and 7,668 reported crimes in May. The lowest month so far this year was in January with 6,375.

July’s figures are still 6.1 per cent higher than the first month of the year.

The most common reported crime continues to be violence and sexual offences, where there were 3,014 in July, with 707 public order offences, and 598 incidents of anti-social behaviour.

In addition, there were 536 reports of criminal damage and arson, and 426 reports classified as “other theft”. This includes theft by an employee, blackmail and making off without payment.

There were also 324 incidents of shoplifting, 291 burglaries and 281 vehicle crimes.

In total, there were 210 drugs offences, as well as 171 classed as “other crimes”, which includes forgery, perjury and other miscellaneous crime.

There were also 73 robberies, 57 reports of theft from the person, 54 possession of a weapon incidents and 25 bicycle thefts.

In 2022 there were just over 82,800 recorded crimes across Bradford. This can be broken down as follows:
