THE ROYAL Engineer was a favourite watering hole for mill workers and those at nearby Bowling Iron Works.
Joseph Stocks of Shibden Head Brewery provided the beer at the inn - just one of their 111 licensed premises.
The Dudley Hill pub, which stood at the crossroads of Wakefield Road, Tong Street, Sticker and Rooley Lane, was demolished in 1962.
