OFFICERS have criticised youths who allegedly threw stones and bricks at police cars, taxis and buses in an estate in Bradford.

The objects were said to be thrown at the vehicles around Broadstone Way and Kesteven Road in the Holme Wood area of the city last night.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "Officers disrupted a group of juveniles in the Broadstone Way area and a juvenile was arrested for two criminal damage to motor vehicle offences.

"The juvenile has been interviewed and will be dealt with by our youth offending team as part of the re-education we provide to offenders around these type of offences."

Officers provided a picture of the stones they recovered during the incident.

The spokesperson added: "This type of behaviour is not acceptable and will not be tolerated.

"There is a real risk that someone, whether that be a taxi driver, bus driver, passenger or police officer, could get seriously injured if this behaviour doesn't stop."

Over the weekend, police also found a man wanted on suspicion of four burglaries, at Morrell Court, Holme Wood.

He was subsequently arrested and charged in connection with the offences.

Officers also found a male wanted on Stoneyhurst Way, Holme Wood, on suspicion of a wounding offence involving a machete which happened in the area the previous week.

The police spokesperson said: "With the assistance of our colleagues, this male was arrested and so was another family member after he was found in possession of drugs, two mobile phones and weighing scales.

"These males are still under investigation for these offences by our detective team."
