A MAN has been jailed after stealing rings worth £1,000 in total from a Bradford jewellers.

Anthony Penn, of Allerton Road in Allerton, committed both thefts at S&S Jewellers, on Leeds Road, last month.

He stole two rings, each worth £500, on September 13 and 23.

Penn pleaded guilty when his case was heard at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates' Court on Monday, October 2.

The 54-year-old was sentenced to six months in prison.

Court documents said the offence was so serious that "only a custodial sentence can be justified".

They added that the defendant had a "flagrant disregard for court orders" and "used distraction to take high-value items".
