A MAN was caught with a wrench at a railway station and carrying out a racially aggravated affray.
Richard Martin, 45, of Weathouse, in Birkby, Huddersfield, was found guilty of possessing an offensive weapon in a public place and affray at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates' Court on Monday.
He pleaded not guilty to the offences on October 31 last year.
Martin was caught with a wrench at Guiseley Railway Station, off Station Road, on July 14, 2021.
He also used or threatened unlawful violence towards another person at the station on the same day.
This conduct was such that it would have caused the individual to fear for their personal safety.
Martin received a community order in punishment, with elements of it uplifted due to the affray being racially aggravated, according to court records.
The 45-year-old must complete up to 15 Rehabilitation Activity Requirement (RAR) days, and 120 hours of unpaid work over the next year.
He was ordered to pay the court £514 in total as well.
This includes a surcharge of £114 to fund victim services and £400 in costs.
The total must be paid by October 23 this year.
The court also ordered that wrench be forfeited and destroyed.
