LATEST NEWS: More than 35 people arrested in huge Bonfire Night probe as investigation continues

DETECTIVES have released CCTV images of people they want to speak with in connection with disorder on Bonfire Night last year.

Multiple reports were received on the evening of Saturday, November, about large groups of youths in Halifax with fireworks.

West Yorkshire Police said an extensive investigation has been underway following the disorder in the Park Ward area.

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

This resulted in a number of arrests for criminal damage, public order and firework offences.

"A total of 28 people have been arrested so far. Those arrested have been released under investigation or bailed with conditions," said a spokesperson.

"Through ongoing enquiries, further suspects were identified through internal circulation and dedicated support from the Calderdale Community Safety Partnership."

It was on Bonfire Night that 17-year-old Mohammed Qais Ratyal was injured after a shard of glass from a greenhouse punctured his chest when he fell into the garden of a house.

He died later in hospital.

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

The teen was part of a group that travelled from Bradford to Halifax and which was seen in Vickerman Street.

Assistant coroner Ian Pears said at the inquest into his death: "This was an accident which occurred on November 5, 2022. Mohammed Qais Ratyal was garden hopping and during this endeavour, he fell into a greenhouse and glass punctured his chest. I record this as an accidental death."

Detective Chief Inspector Michael Cox, of Calderdale District Police, said: “Many hours have been put into investigating the incidents from Bonfire Night last year and bringing those responsible for the disorder to justice.

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

“Detectives are now in a position to issue images of those who still need to be identified and spoken to as they may be able to assist with ongoing enquiries. If you do recognise anyone pictured below, please make contact to provide information which may support the investigation.

“We were clear in our run-up to Bonfire Night last year that we would fully investigate any anti-social behaviour by those who seek to risk the safety of the wider community and we remain dedicated to bringing those responsible to justice.

“This type of behaviour is not going to be tolerated on our streets, we work alongside partners to help our communities feel safe and we need our communities to support our investigation with any information they may have.”

"A young man suffered fatal injuries in the area during these Bonfire Night incidents and we are directly appealing to the local community to get in touch if they can identify any of those pictured."
