A HISTORIC Bradford park will see its tennis courts refurbished.
Peel Park is to benefit from a significant investment after successfully attracting national funding.
The Lawn Tennis Association has developed a package of initiatives to support park tennis facilities and open up the sport to more people.
Bradford has been identified as a priority for refurbishment within the current financial year, with funding of £475k to refurbish the park's that are able to align with the funding criteria.
The works in Peel Park will include improvements to the surfacing, nets, and to recolour and provide new line markings for each court.
Councillor Si Cunningham (Lab, Bolton & Undercliffe) said: "We welcome this investment in sporting facilities in Peel Park, which comes after we secured new cricket facilities and a six-figure investment in the playground.
"Together with our excellent Friends of Peel Park group, we are committed to ensuring Peel Park is one of the most attractive parks in Bradford."
Work is scheduled to commence in October and be completed in time for Spring 2024.
Tennis court users are being asked to be aware of the improvements taking place, which will mean they are unavailable during winter months.
