Bradford Council has explained why households might find their bin tipped on its side this week.

Bin collections are taking place across Bradford district this week. 

But residents might walk out to see an unusual decision being made by bin crews after Wednesday's collection.

Bin collection crews may decide to place your bin on its side due to strong winds forecast by the Met Office.

Top wind speeds during Storm Agnes in Bradford district are expected to hit 39mph. 

In a social media post on Wednesday, a spokesperson for Bradford Council Please be aware that our collection crews may place your bin on its side after tomorrow's [Thursday's] collection.

"This is due to potential strong winds from Storm Agnes.

"We apologise for any inconvenience."
