High winds are set to blow through Bradford district this afternoon as Storm Agnes hits the UK and Ireland. 

The Met Office's yellow weather warning will come into force from noon on Wednesday and end at 7am on Thursday.

Gusts are expected to reach up to almost 40mph in the city on Wednesday night.

On what to expect, the Met Office warning states: "Injuries and danger to life from flying debris are possible.

"Some damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs, could happen.

"Some power cuts are likely to occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage.

"Road, rail, air and ferry services may be affected, with longer journey times and cancellations possible.

"Some roads and bridges are likely to close."

When Storm Agnes will hit Bradford district

By 1pm today (Wednesday), there will be light rain with wind gusts of 21mph.

Wind speeds and heaviness of the rain will gradually increase throughout Wednesday and into Thursday.

The gusty wind will go past the 30mph mark during rush hour, so take extra care whilst driving, walking and cycling home. 

The top wind speed in Bradford district is expected to be 39mph, reaching this point at around 10pm on Wednesday. 

The weather will remain cloudy with wind gusts of 37mph throughout the early hours of Thursday morning. 

By 7am on Thursday, weather conditions will remain similar but wind gusts will reduce to a forecasted 24mph.
