THE first episode of an ITV drama on the hunt for Bradford-born serial killer Peter Sutcliffe will air tonight.
The seven-part series, called The Long Shadow, will tell the story of one of the country’s biggest manhunts, which lasted for five years.
Sutcliffe murdered 13 women and attempted to kill seven others between 1975 and 1980.
Sutcliffe's first two murder victims - Wilma McCann and Emily Jackson.
Episode one is set to focus onThe Radio Times summary states: "Wilma McCann's four young children wake up to find their mother missing.
"After her body is found not far from her house, DCS Dennis Hoban takes charge of the investigation to try and catch her killer.
"Meanwhile, across the city, Emily and Sydney Jackson's marriage is faltering in the face of financial hardship."
Former Line Of Duty actor Mark Stobbart will depict Sutcliffe.
Toby Jones, known for his role as the voice of Dobby in Harry Potter, Sherwood’s David Morrissey, and Coronation Street’s Katherine Kelly are also among the line-up.
Jones will play DCS Dennis Hoban with Morrissey taking the role of DCS George Oldfield, who famously took on the investigation.
Additionally, Inspector George Gently's Lee Ingleby, Byker Grove’s Jill Halfpenny, Jasmine Lee-Jones, Liz White, and Line of Duty’s Daniel Mays will feature in the series.
The Long Shadow premieres on ITV tonight at 9pm.
