A Bradford man has pleaded guilty to wounding two men and possessing a shotgun with intent to endanger life following a reported shooting incident in the city in July.

When they first appeared before the courts in July, 32-year-old Nathan Scott, of Sandholme Drive, and Tommy Lupton, 20, of no fixed abode, were originally charged with attempted murder after two injured men were found in Farleton Drive, Fagley, on July 7. Police were called at around 5pm.

The pair, who are both remanded in custody, appeared before a judge at Bradford Crown Court today (Fri) via prison video links for a further case management hearing and a new indictment containing the three charges was put to the defendants.

Scott pleaded guilty to possessing a firearm, namely a shotgun, with intent to endanger life while Lupton pleaded not guilty to that offence.

Scott also admitted two further charges of wounding the two complainants, but Lupton denied both those allegations.

Lupton will go on trial on all three allegations on January 3 next year before Judge Jonathan Rose.

Judge Rose, who presided over today’s hearing, told Scott that his sentence would have to await the outcome of Lupton’s trial.

“Mr Scott you have entered guilty pleas and you’ll receive credit for those guilty pleas when your sentence takes place, but that will not be until the conclusion of the trial of your co-accused,” said the judge.

The incident prompted concern among residents at the time.

One resident, who did not wish to be named, told the T&A: "I heard some screams and shouts and that's when the police came.

"This area is usually pretty quiet.

"It's not nice, especially as it happened in the daylight."

Another local resident said: "I heard sirens getting closer and then the police and ambulance service turned up.

"They cordoned off the road.

"It's a bit scary especially when children are about.

"I've lived here all my life and it's usually pretty quiet around here."

At the time, a police spokesperson released a statement which said: "West Yorkshire Police was called to Farleton Drive, in Fagley at 5.10pm on Friday.

"They found two men there who had injuries to their bodies that were consistent with a firearm being discharged.

"Both were taken to hospital, one with serious injuries.
