A SPECIAL event will be held this weekend to celebrate a “warrior princess” cat who has made a remarkable recovery after a horrific attack in Bradford.
For most of this year, Bradford Cat Watch Rescue and Sanctuary has been looking after little Rosa, who was found abandoned on a doorstep in the city in February after being seriously injured by corrosive chemicals.
Just three-months-old at the time, Rosa had suffered horrendous burns and wounds which left her unable to blink.
But thanks to Bradford Cat Watch Rescue and Sanctuary, she has undergone surgery to repair her eyelids and her wounds have healed - and Rosa is now well enough to leave the sanctuary after finding a loving new home.
Katie Lloyd, who founded Bradford Cat Watch Rescue and Sanctuary, said: “Despite everything Rosa has been through, she’s just amazing and has such a wonderful temperament - I call her my little warrior princess.
“She’s so strong, affectionate and loving - she’s an absolute miracle.
“When we took her in, we honestly didn’t think she was going to survive - she was in such a bad way and it was horrendous to see.
“She was looked after 24/7 here in our critical care ward and over the months she’s been through a lot of surgery, recovery and rehabilitation.
“But now she’s got a new lease of life and a wonderful future after being adopted by a loving family.
“She can now also blink again which is just absolutely extraordinary.
“We’re all absolutely delighted for her.”
Katie said she and others are looking forward to celebrating Rosa and her recovery at this weekend’s event.
It will be held at Bradford Cat Watch Rescue and Sanctuary at 1 Ashbourne Road between 1pm and 5pm on Sunday, September 17.
The fun-filled family event will include a tombola, a raffle and face painting - and, of course, Rosa.
Katie said: “In 17 years of Bradford Cat Watch Rescue and Sanctuary, Rosa’s recovery has been our biggest challenge yet - and we want people to come and celebrate with us, see how wonderful Rosa has recovered and meet some more little miracles too.
“Rosa’s recovery would not have been possible without all our amazing supporters, volunteers and our dedicated friends at Northcote Veterinary Surgery - it’s been a real team effort.”
