FIREFIGHTERS were quick to extinguish a car on fire at a service station.
A pump from Cleckheaton Fire Station was called to reports of a vehicle on fire on Whitehall Road, Birkenshaw, at 5.45pm yesterday (Friday).
Despite pictures showing a car up in flames, a spokesperson for West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said firefighters were quick to act and had the fire extinguished in a short time.
A spokesperson for the fire service said: "We were contacted at 5:41pm following reports of a fire at Whitehall Services – a four-person firefighter crew from Cleckheaton was on the scene within six minutes and left at 6:48pm with the fire extinguished."
Cleckheaton firefighters, along with Odsal Fire Station, were called to another incident on Friday evening.
The West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service reported engines from the two stations were called to a large rubbish fire on Prospect Road, Cleckheaton, at 8.30pm Friday.
A spokesperson for the fire said: "We received multiple calls from members of the public following reports of fire and smoke on Prospect Road in Cleckheaton yesterday.
"Eight firefighters from Cleckheaton and Odsal attended and were on scene at 8:43pm to attend a large fire in the open with crews still on site at 8am this morning."
