A 20MPH zone will be introduce on a stretch of road where a number of crashes have occurred.
Officers from Bradford Council’s Highways Department have been working with the police to improve road safety on a road above Steeton.
The proposed scheme will alter the speed limit a section of Redcar Lane/Barrow Lane as it enters the village.
The measures which are being prosed by Bradford Council include the extension of the 20mph zone and adding a new 30mph buffer zone between the 20mph limit and the derestricted rural road.
Councillor Alex Ross-Shaw, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Regeneration, Transport and Planning said “This is another example of the pro-active approach to casualty prevention work happening in the district.
“Our data led capital programme along with partnership working with the police, and important local knowledge from Ward Councillors and the public, has led to the development of a solution to reduce the number of speed related collisions at this location in Steeton.”
