THERE were long delays this morning after a car smashed into a barrier and a road sign.
It happened at the Horsforth roundabout at around 5.30am today (Wednesday) and the road was partially blocked.
Police were called to the scene at the junction of Broadway and New Road Side.
A police spokesperson issued the following statement this morning.
"A VW Golf had been involved in a collision with a barrier and a road sign,"
"The driver of the car, a man in his fifties, was taken to hospital.
"The roundabout was closed but one lane was reopened a short time ago.
"Drivers are advised to avoid the area while the scene is cleared."
Although traffic has now eased, traffic alerts this morning reported "severe delays" in the area and delays back to Rawdon, Kirkstall and Farsley.
Alerts said that traffic could not access the southbound A6120, so traffic was forced to head towards Kirkstall.
There are also delays through Calverley, on top of congestion caused by roadworks at Apperley Bridge.
One local resident said: "It took me three hours to get to work this morning."
