A BRADFORD woman has been fined after she was caught dodging rail fare on her journey to Leeds.
Kemmi Gill, 21, of West Royd, Wilsden, Bradford was travelling between Bingley and Leeds on Monday, December 5, 2022.
When asked to produce a rail ticket, Gill showed a ticket with a 16-25 railcard discount applied.
She was unable to produce the accompanying railcard as the court record states ‘she left it at home.’
As she was unable to produce a valid ticket her details were obtained, and she was advised the facts would be reported.
Following the incident, a letter was sent to the defendant requesting an explanation, as there was no response, a Fixed Penalty Notice was then sent.
However, this remains unpaid.
At Kirklees Magistrate’s Court, a collection order was issued and she was fined £220, asked to pay compensation of £5.10, a surcharge to fund victim services of £88, and costs of £150.
In total, she must pay £463.10 before September 18, 2023.
